Savannah Elopement: Tom and Stephanie

I just love Tom and Stephanie's story. They met in a dive bar in Thailand. Not a one night stand, just so you know! But then they stayed in contact and basically travelled the world together. All locations that are not the typical vacation spots. Even celebrating the new year in Austria one year! Tom's from England and Stephanie grew up in California and now they both live in New York. Amazing! Now they will be staying in NYC for a little while before their next adventure. Tom and Stephanie decided to go somewhere they had never been for their wedding of eight people, and Savannah seemed like a great choice. They really wanted to see and feel the southern lifestyle. Their day started at Forsythe Park and then they took the gang down to The Pink House-Yummy!!

Georgia Engagement Portraits: Penny and Will

Oh... I just love Penny and Will. They are two of the sweetest and genuine people I know. I think Penny would give you the shirt off her back. And I do love her clothes such a cute style- she loves Anthropologie!! (me too!) They met down in Savannah but moved to Atlanta. And are having there wedding at a beautiful winery- Wolf Mountain Vineyards!! Which I can not wait to photograph. Thanks so much you guys it was fun picking an exit off of 95 and meeting you two! One day I will have to get photos of you fly fishing though!!

I hated to discover that @home vintage general is going out of business this past weekend. It has been one of my favorite places in Savannah forever. But Liz is moving on and is closing the shop down. Fortunatly I will still be able to see her work as she has a new business, Elizabeth Demos Event Design & Styling. Holiday! 2009

Well our adventures started us off in Staunton Virginia.

Where their was a State of Emergency because of all the snow.

We were lucky we did not lose power and ended up having a good time.

It's really fun scrapping 24" of snow!

Snow was everywhere!!

So it has been quiet a while since my last post. And I feel as if I have been running around like a crazy person. The holidays always get so crazy!!
You might remember Mandy and Matthew from there cute Boone, NC wedding in October. Where they had a small ceremony with only family and some friends. Now they had a reception at the beautiful Ford Plantation to include all the people who could not make it. Mandy who is very bashful wanted to celebrate but was nervous about being the center of attention! Too funny!! I can just see the face she kept making all night with two very big eyes ever time the attention was on them! Matthew on the other hand was laughing it up all night. We were able to do some photos before hand. I wish them the absolute best!

I just loved the colors of oranges, greens and browns!

Jimmy lost at a Newlywed Game and had to do the Chicken Dance.

This adorable little girl helped him out.

It was hilarious - she had a straight face the entire time!! too cute...

When I met Jimmy and Heather we hit it off immediately. We all have a love for music, being silly, coffee, Cheslea Lately, and all things a little crazy. When we met they also brought along Heather's Man of Honor, Greg, who was hilarious! Jimmy and Heather are both musician's in Nashville. Check out Jimmy's band, The Black Lucy's here. I was so excited to get to hear them sing at their reception--Amazing! They got married at the Epworth by the Sea, which is a beautiful location filled with old live oaks, white picket fences, the marsh, and an adorable white chapel. Then they jammed it out at the reception!

Savannah Wedding: The New Mr. and Mrs. Kane

Victoria and William will always have a laugh and smile on their faces. They just light up any room they go into and have a way of putting everyone at ease. They had a beautiful ceremony at Bethesda and then headed to the Trustees Garden for their reception. There favorite food is Moe's so they had them cater- so everyone made their own burritos!! The day was absolutely beautiful, the weather was perfect and the green colors of their wedding blended perfectly with the spanish moss, live oaks, and the brick chapel. I met Victoria and William a while ago and got a chance to do their engagement session, click here to see. Victoria is from Montana and William from Raleigh and met up through mutual friends. When William first met Victoria he knew he was suppose to marry her- too cute! I wish them the absolute best and I knew they will be laughing and acting crazy for many years to come.

Brian and Nicole seem to be total opposites. Brian is hard to calm down, he keeps going and going, and has everyone laughing the entire time. Nicole is sort of mellow and keeps everything calm. Although while taking their photos I was constantly laughing at her adorable giggle. They had a beautiful ceremony at St. John the Baptist Cathedral and then went to Garibaldi's for the reception. Brian is a music man and had the amazing Eric Culberson Blues Band playing and everyone got down!! In between we had a good time running all over Savannah to get some couple photos. I wish them the absolutely best and I know they will be laughing together for a very long time!!

The Beautiful Surroundings- Live Oaks, Covered Brick Paths, and the Little White Chapel!

Ashley got these beautiful Hermes scarves for all her Bridesmaids.

Which She wrapped around their gray dresses- too cute!

She said the color all started with the shoes.

And in my mind shoes are always a good place to start!!

Ashley was absolutely stunning- she had this beautiful smile,

elegant demeanor, and gorgeous dress!

The weather was perfect!

Brendan and Ashley had an absolutely beautiful wedding in the chapel of Palmetto Bluff. Both seemed so calm as it became time for the ceremony. Although Brendan seemed a little nervous, wide eyed but nervous! They had a small intimate family and friends wedding, which always makes everything so sweet. Everything just seemed so perfect! They are in Jamaica right now and then heading to the Homestead for some fun outdoor activities. I am told that Brendan always needs to be doing something while Ashley just wants to relax so they are mixing it up a little! Sounds like a lot of fun!! I wish you guys the best of luck.

Roy DeCarva: Master Photographer Passes Away

I have been a huge fan of Roy DeCarva ever since I started doing photography. His work is absolutely amazing. I just remember looking through one of his books and being mesmerized by the forms, shapes, the light, the shadows- it had so much depth. Every image is so powerful. I want to pass along his work in hopes that you will be inspired too! DeCarva is a true legend and this is a sad time for us as photographers. Alicia had the best smile! and she had it on all day!

They were the best. They could not stop laughing with each other!!

It was really something: As soon as they were pronounced man and wife the sun came out.

I have to say Alicia looks just like a beauty queen- so gorgeous!

They had cake balls instead of a cake. Which was a crazy idea-never seen cake balls!

Then they throw them up to each other. Can you find the cake ball? It's like a Where's Waldo but with cake balls!

Man they were ready to get out of there.

They were out at lighting speed!

Alicia and Ryan are really the best! So sweet and caring. It's so nice to see the entire wedding party, the couple, and all their guest so excited. It kind of rebuilds your strength in marriage, family, and life to see the kindness and the genuine love they have for one another. I photographed their friends, Shannon and John's wedding last year. And Shannon looks a little different now! They are expecting their first baby. So congrats to them! Alicia and Ryan looked for a long time to find the perfect spot and I really think they did. On the water, surrounded by trees, and in the middle of nowhere--as Im sure many of the guest thought as well!! I wish them much success in their wedding and can't wait to see them again. Special thanks to 655 West for the beautiful location.

Ben and Lindsey got married at The Dunes House in Hilton Head. The weather was a little cold but perfect! Ben and Lindsey live in NYC but wanted to come down to the south for their special day. Lindsey is the one of the nicest people and has the sweetest voice. They seem to be a perfect fit and there friends really love them. And you know that is a good sign! Mandy and Matthew got married in this beautiful little white chapel just outside of Boone, NC. Mandy, who lives in Richmond Hill, wanted to do something a little different then other weddings she has been too. So Mandy and Matthew went up to Valle Crucis and fell in love. Matthew in particular with the chapel! The Mast Farm Inn was such a great spot tucked away in this little quite town. They are going to have a reception at the Ford Plantation in December which should be fun!!

Amanda and Chris are two of the cutest people. I love the story of how they met: She was a flight attendant and he was coming home from serving in Iraq. He made a joke saying he wanted one of those (pointing to her) when she asked if he needed anything. They became friends and eventually realized they really loved each other. It's just like a story in a movie!! I met them a little while back when they came in town for engagement portraits and I will have to say Chris is a handful!! I think Amanda is the perfect fit for him and he would do anything she said (which included taking pictures!). Too cute! As soon as they saw each other come down the aisle they both lit up and did not stop smiling. I wish them many many many years of happiness and I know they will have it.

After the I do's Everyone Enjoyed some Champagne and Cigars!

When Erik and Denise got engaged they carved their initials into this tree

which was right around the corner from where they got married.

Erik Loves PBR and was praying to the PBR gods for a good and long marriage!

It was one of the most unusual sunsets I have ever seen in Savannah! Beautiful!

Erik and Denise are hilarious! That's all I can say. Too much fun!!

I had a blast photographing their wedding, even though they (Northerners!) all thought it was way to hot! Denise and I have become good friends over the past year. We have been laughing it up for a while over her toilet paper wedding dress, the word hibbie jibbies, the fact that Erik and I both have a strong aversion to cotton balls-yuck, meeting her and her mother for the first time when they were about to pass out from running around and bad travel experiences, and lots of other silly moments. Their wedding was beautiful. The ceremony was held at Forsyth Park with Rev. Steven Schulte, who is always fun! Afterwards we went around downtown for some photos- after they cooled down. Then everyone headed to the Hilton Desoto to get down!! A special thanks to Tricia Huddas, Garden on the Square, Rev. Steven Schulte, the Hilton Desoto, Old Savannah Tours, First City Events, Color Boxx, and Custom Cakes!

I have become good friends with Heather and Nick over the past year. She is such a talented artist! So I was so excited about her wedding- I knew it would be great! They got married at the Savannah Yacht Club which they filled to the brim with blue birds. Heather is obsessed with birds and had them every where. Her grandmother even made grape vine birds next for her to put around the tables, her flowers and her bridesmaids follows, as well as the cake. They were too cute! Jamie and Kyle are two of the cutest and sweetest people. Jamie is just adorable and I had so much fun working with them. It was so nice to see how much they loved each other as well as how goofy they can be!! There ceremony and reception was held at The Pink House on their balcony. It had been rainy pretty hard downtown but as I told Jamie it was going to stop. And it did about an hour before their ceremony. Jamie was prepared anyways with her Georgia Peaches Rain boots! She made all these cool little flowers out of a bunch of different fabrics which she put everywhere- in her hair, on her shoes, on a shawl, and anything that wasn't moving! She also cracked me up with all of her ebay purchases. She stalked her wedding dress on ebay, and made her whole family join in. She also purchased her veil there! Kyle and Jamie had a great reception with their closest friends and family and ended the night with some sparklers. A special thanks to The Pink House and Garden on the Square for helping put together a beautiful wedding.

Lauren and John are the cutest couple. They came down from Kentucky to have a small intimate wedding with their closest friends and family. Lauren and John rented houses out of Tybee to get ready then headed to Blessed Sacrament for their ceremony. Afterwards we headed downtown to do some portraits while their guest enjoyed a trolley tour of Savannah. Then we all headed back to their house out on the marsh side of Tybee and we watched the beautiful sunset. The next day everyone was going out for a kayak river tour. They are planning a big reception back in Kentucky. Special thanks to A to Zinnias for the beautiful flowers.

Shannon danced a Polish money dance! And got a blessing from the priest as well!

Nick and Shannon were amazing. They were so laid back for their wedding!! They had all the details set up to a tee--the chinese lanterns, signs, flowers, guest gifts, and so much more. Color was everywhere. When I first spoke with Shannon she told me the colors were based off a beautiful ocean sunset. Which was perfect for the bright colored beach wedding in Hilton Head South Carolina. Shannon's Mother made her wedding dress and they had an artist paint the train with lots of hippie flowers! Gorgeous!! It's always fun when someone takes their personality and really creates a beautiful and unique wedding. Shannon even sang a song for Nick by the end of the night--Wow What a voice!!

Bill and Dana are the cutest couple. Bill seems to be two feet taller than Dana, who is adorable. Bill owns a Jersey Pizza Joint and Dana works at Anthropologie (jealous!!). We laughed about The Real Housewives of New Jersey-- Dana tried to tell me she had not thrown a table before -but you never know!! I can not wait for there wedding it will be a lot of fun. They complement each other very well. You can tell Bill is the more serious one and Dana laughs alot! Oh.. and they are turning one of the rooms in there house into a closet for Dana. Matthew and All the other Hubbies out there need to take a lesson!!

They got married at St. John the Baptist Cathedral then had their reception at the beautiful Pink House. It was such a beautiful day!

Tybee was awesome on Saturday. There were actual waves and tons of surfers. The entire time I was out I was just wondering where all these people were coming from. Who knew there were so many surfers near Tybee. Thanks to Hurricane Bill we were able to enjoy some rather large (for us) waves. It was great and everyone who was out was just really filled with excitement.

Sophie, who is my yoga instructor, wanted some family portraits. So we went out this past sunday on their boat. It was an absolutely beautiful day. We even saw a couple of dolphins! They all joked that the last time they had a family portrait there were all knee high. I had a lot of fun with them and you need to keep Sophie out at the Yoga Room on Whitemarsh Island.

Matthew's Mamaw Lee just got me those pink gloves as a 'happy.'

Which did make me very happy!!

They have this beautiful stitch on them.

This Deer is from Matthew's Mamaw Annie Mae who recently passed away.

We loved her dearly- she also use to always tell Matthew 'Be careful and if you dont name it after me.'

There is a special place in heaven for people like Annie Mae.

This is a Jimmy Carter Peanut Cup we found in a thrift store while traveling in rural Georgia.

They are one of the silliest couples -they will have many years of happiness!

I love this photo-Victoria and William rocking out just being natural.

William was very worried about his brothers seeing images of him being too goofy!

Just so you know I do have blackmail!!

I just had a blast with William and Victoria, there have most infectious laughter. Not only are the beautiful but you can really see the love they have for one another. We went to the Savannah Botanical Gardens where William proposed. William says he knew the first time they met that they were going to be together forever. It was love at first sight!! William and Victoria have a strong faith background that lead them together. As well as a love for the outdoors going everywhere from Montana, North Carolina -mountains and the beach, Hawaii and Park City, Utah. They are also both the self proclaimed 'interesting' one in their family, both coming from a family of six. They were always the dreamers, dancers and laughers!! I can not wait for their wedding. There will definitely be a lot of laughter.

Pinhole Contest

This image was shot with a Pinhole camera I made.

It was actually a cookie can that I put a hole into.

I stood still for ten minutes to get this shot. So much fun!!!

I am going to enter a Pinhole contest. Which of the two images do you like the best?

Somedays all it takes is a good laugh in the afternoon to make the day great or a good coffee, talk with a girlfriend. But today it was B & H Photo- I won a $250 gift certificate!! Yahoooo..... I was just about to purchase a new lens for the new season so this will come in handy. Yeah.. B & H. I would recommend them for all of your digital, video, tv, and computer needs!!

Lauren's Something Blue was a Blue Ribbon tied around her pearls.

Putting on the garter can be so much fun!!

Lauren did not want to get her dressed wrinkled while waiting so she looked like a puff ball instead!!

Nothing like fanning off before it was time to walk down the aisle!!

Lauren gave all the girls fans as part of their gift and wanted them to keep them in their pockets. Just in case she got hot!!

Luke and Lauren went to Auburn. So everybody got excited about their fight song!

Their Signature Drink: Sweet Tea Vodka and Lemonade. Delicious!!

Nothing like a shot of flowers to the face to end the night!

Well, I just love Lauren and Luke. They are one of the most adorable couples!! Lauren is always smiling or laughing and Luke is always ready to join in on the fun. For the reception they had a Sweet Tea Cocktail in Monogramed Mason Jars and I think that pretty much sums up the day. It was a laid back sophisticated southern affair. I just had a blast! And I think they did too! Luke grew up on Isle of Hope and they had the ceremony at the Isle of Hope Methodist Church. Which has a beautiful white chapel. We headed to Bluff Drive for some photos then went downtown to the Trustees Garden for the reception. Luke and Lauren ended the night with a rose petal toss and a carriage ride. I wish them well in the future and I am sure their will be lots of laughs and sweet tea in their future!
